Warren Wood is the woodland plantation bordered by Fordfield Road, the A507 (West of Millbrook) and the ancient byway running North from Steppingley towards Ridgmont.

It comprises 360 acres of largely woodland plantation in the ownership of the Duke of Bedford Estate. The land is crossed by a well-used public footpath, at least some 200 years old, a bridleway and there is an ancient byway running along its west side.

The rights of way provide a much-enjoyed free public amenity from which only the sights and sounds of nature are experienced.

The land is part of an area designated an Area of Great Landscape Value. It is designated as green belt and a County Wildlife Site.

The construction of the proposed Center Parcs resort will destroy for all time the rurual character of the land and the footpath will be closed, excluding the public from that amenity. Only paying guests of the Center Parcs resort would in future have access to the present free amenity.
